Most visitors never make it north of the bridge. That's their loss — and your gain. This is a full, generous day along Sydney's most beautiful stretch of coast: a lighthouse headland, a ferry-only beach with wild wallabies, two cruises, and a guide who grew up here filling in the stories, swims and stops the guidebooks miss. We finish by gliding back into the harbour past the Opera House.

Barrenjoey Headland & Lighthouse

We start with the climb to the lighthouse for sweeping views over Palm Beach and Broken Bay. From May to November this is one of Sydney's best land-based whale-watching spots, with humpbacks passing closest in June and July.

Palm Beach

Coffee and morning tea, with time to wander the beach where Home and Away's Summer Bay is filmed.

The Secret Beach (ferry only)

A short ferry to a hidden stretch of shoreline: wild wallabies on the grass, thousands of blue swimmer crabs in the lagoon, and the option of a guided meditation with our zen guide.

Pittwater Cruise

A relaxed cruise around Pittwater, taking in quiet local beaches and the bushland edges of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Avalon Beach

An hour to explore — or simply sit in — one of the most-loved beach-village towns on the coast, hand-picked by our Northern Beaches local.

The Coast Drive

A scenic drive down the length of the beaches, with the story of each suburb and what it really means to be a local — including the cult clifftop "Don't Jump" rock, and why it's there.

A driving tour with a full insider briefing: the best swims, the Shelly Beach snorkel, the bars and restaurants, and everything worth your own time.

North Head Lookout

Walk the dramatic clifflines at North Head for one of the finest views back over harbour and ocean.

We leave you fully briefed to explore Manly at your own pace into the evening.

Sydney Harbour Cruise home

When you're ready, ferry back to Circular Quay and finish with a scenic cruise through Sydney Harbour, past the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

What to bring & wear

Swimmers and a towel (there's time for a dip), sun protection, a hat and sunglasses, comfortable shoes for the headland walks, and a light layer for the cruises. In whale season, binoculars are a nice extra. Bring a little cash/card for coffee and lunch.

Whale watching season

Humpbacks migrate past Sydney from roughly May to November, peaking in June and July heading north, with mothers and calves often closer to shore from September. Barrenjoey is a recognised land-based vantage point — but whales are wild, so sightings can't be guaranteed.
